BEYOND THE BLUE HELMET: A LEGACY FORGED IN LEBANON

The successful completion of the UNIFIL tenure by 4 GRENADIERS INF BN GP (INDBATT-XXVI) marks a defining chapter in the Battalion’s illustrious history. Operating in one of the world’s most volatile regions during the Israel–Lebanon conflict, the Battalion displayed exceptional professionalism, resilience and unwavering commitment to the United Nations mandate.

Despite persistent security challenges, including air and missile strikes, the Battalion maintained operational readiness, ensured the safety of peacekeepers and continued to safeguard its Area of Responsibility. Equally significant was its humanitarian outreach through medical assistance, community engagement, educational initiatives and close cooperation with local authorities, strengthening trust with the people of South Lebanon.

The Battalion’s outstanding performance earned widespread appreciation from UNIFIL leadership, multinational contingents and the host nation. Historic achievements, including receiving the Head of Mission & Force Commander’s Citation twice during a single tenure , Commendation from Embassy of India on behalf of MEA and recognition by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Lebanon, reflected its operational excellence and dedication.
